Ignition Questions are over 18,000 teachable moments embedded directly into our math, science, and social studies curriculum. Maximize student engagement by polling the class on questions pre-loaded in each media piece that focus attention on specific curricular objectives for each lesson. |
Ignition Questions are located on the right side of every media piece.
Best Practice: Use the fence posts at the bottom of each media piece as a cue for when to pause and activate the corresponding Ignition Question.Best Practice: Use the Ignition Questions to check student understanding of concepts or to stimulate classroom discussion.

Specifically designed to integrate with Promethean's ActivExpression LRS, Ignition Questions "talk" to ActivExpression so the answer choices are automatically displayed on the screen. Ignition Questions also function with other LRSs. Teachers should input the provided questions and track responses in whatever way they currently do. Ignition Questions become even more powerful when used in combination with a learner response system! |

Multiple Question Types
Ignition Questions take full advantage of the range of questions supported with ActivExpression: multiple choice, text-based entry, numeric-entry, true/false, and likert scale. Require students to use a variety of thinking skills in one lesson, and expose students to the types of questions they will see on standardized tests!
Track Student Responses
Track when students enter responses to the questions with ActivExpression, and make mentally checking out not an option for students! Students are held accountable by the teacher and their peers because the whole class can see who is participating and who is not.
Once students have entered responses into the ActivExpression, click the check mark to view poll results.

Best Practice: Have the class discuss which answer they think is correct before revealing the correct answer. Students are able to evaluate and discuss, eliminate incorrect answers, group similar answers, and explain and debate responses, promoting higher-order thinking skills and moving up Bloom's Taxonomy.
Drag and Drop

Manipulate student responses into categories with the drag and drop feature, and use responses to stimulate classroom discussion!
Best Practice: Use IWB software such as Promethean's ActivStudio to highlight key terms, label diagrams, or use student entered responses as labels for the media.
Data Reports
Record what students understand, what needs to be reviewed, or who's struggling with Ignition Questions data! Save the data from each session to your hard drive to differentiate instruction in mixed-ability classrooms, and ensure all students needs are being met.
